In your quest for your personal best, it is likely you will ultimately have to optimize both you and your team’s performance, target maximum margin in all that you do, and rescue time through aligned investment of it with your target results. This likely isn’t an epiphany for you, however execution creates challenges. Finding that edge helps. Over the decades of my career I have developed my Intensity Multiplier Principles to provide that edge. Grounded in the tenacity, grit, endurance, courage, and determination of successful obtainment of goals in all areas of my life, IMP has created a comprehensive guide to overcoming the pain of obstacles and capitalizing on the thrill of realized opportunity. IMP acknowledges the interdependence of one attribute on another. IMP also accounts for the interplay of one environmental catalyst on another. This interdependence will drive a multiplying effect when all attributes are addressed pushing results higher than you might think possible. My foundational beginning developed over time through life, career and family challenges and opportunities and when combined with the application of sound Business and Industrial Engineering knowledge, skills and disciplines these decades of application have developed into the framework that drives me today. I use my Intensity Multiplier Principles (IMPs) for the basis for all I do.

HOW DID I COME UP WITH MY IDEA FOR THEFITPROFESSIONAL1 BUSINESS?

Business is my passion. I love business. However, I also love living my best life with family, fitness, and fun. Over my early career, I depended on foundational principles utilized as a student-athlete in high school and later in college. No, I didn't play beyond club sports or intramurals in college, but the drive to utilize fitness as one key component of performing academically, and later in my early professional career, seemed to 'just work' for me. I didn’t pay so much attention to why, but I knew, like so many of us who have been student-athletes on some level, and who strive to stay fit, that on those days I didn't get to my workout or sport, I noticed a difference. Just like those two- or three-week spans of time I fell far behind on hitting my exercise goals or even doing it for that matter, I noticed the difference. That difference was my performance in all areas of my life just dropped, and sometimes a lot. So be it I thought and simply worked hard to maintain consistent results at work and family. I'd then work hard to get back to a consistent exercise and work schedule as soon as I could. But those early-career deadlines, getting my graduate degree, going to continuing education seminars and classes, getting married, and starting a family, getting my first management job, trying to improve at golf, taking up mountain biking, the first VP job, building a house, getting a dog, then another dog, then the first of three kids, then the other kids, then going after a personal best on the mountain bike, getting to the middle school band concerts, the football games, the hockey games, date night with my wife and the dance competitions, buying my first company, designing a new plant, getting a patent, hiring engineers, operating a business, starting new businesses, making time for friends, holidays, etc., etc., etc. ... and trying to keep it all going was a challenge! The funny thing I discovered is when I stayed fit through consistent workouts and sport, the rest of what life had to challenge me with seemed less intimidating and more manageable. And better results on average in all aspects of my life would follow. I successfully negotiated all of this and more, and you can too.

One more short story for background on how TheFitProfessional1 came into being: So fast forward from my early career to when my oldest son was on the varsity football team, trying to get playing time as a Junior. I'll never forget that season. The team was a dismal 0 and 9 that year. And during that season as I watched those games I thought, what is going on? These athletes excel in other sports, what's up with this one? Why aren't the principles I've loved, lived, and worked by for decades apparent here? I looked at the bench, I looked at the stands, and really observed the parents. I watched the kids, I watched the depth chart players on the sidelines, and I started to pay attention. Suddenly it hit me. All those principles I had utilized for so many years, and now developed professionally with the help of my Master’s in Business, my Industrial Engineering education, and my professional experiences, just were not anywhere in that field. The next year comes along and my second child is on the same team with his brother; he is a sophomore and oldest a senior. Both did get solid playing time; the team ended up 1 and 8. I again thought to myself 'this team has better talent’ than this record and many prior teams with better records, and they are not winning. I decided right then that maybe I could really help people. But how?

I realized it was time to quantify my Intensity Multiplier Principles (IMPs) into a book. I needed to share and educate others on what I knew would work and has worked for me for so long and so effectively. That early motivation to help all the stakeholders in and around that team transformed and grew into the realization I could help fit professionals and their organizations optimize results. The student-athlete version of my first book drove the fit professional version. Intensity Multiplier Principles (IMPs) were developed offering clear frameworks as well as actionable tools and measurable results for organizations and professionals. I've been working on these two Intensity Multiplier Principles books since that time over a decade ago. One focused on student-athletes and one focused on fit professionals. The first, to encourage parents, coaches, and athletes to make sure their kids participate to benefit from the naturally inherent life lessons sports teach. The second, to share with professionals how the IMPs maximize individual, and therefore, team performance. I realized that I could help people to help themselves. My primary evidence is the margin I’ve created in business and personally in my own life and those successes I've enjoyed and benefited from. And don't get me wrong, it’s been a journey. Certain professional and personal failures have also honed the flaws out of various aspects of the IMP framework. My business and personal mistakes have made the IMPs that much more effective and universal in their application. My Intensity Multiplier Principles are an effective foundational diagnostic tool I utilize to determine action plans to improve margin and rescue time. Continuance of this work on the IMP concepts and tools continues to positively sharpen the positive impact on both career and life.

So now it’s time in my career and life to turn to help as many people as I can to help themselves. TheFitProfessional1 is that vehicle. We all need margin in our lives. Not just in our careers and our companies, but in all aspects of our life. Margin is that positive gap established overcoming those challenges we all face. Any endurance athlete will tell you that realization of a personal best is amazing, and simply creates the possibility of a new personal best. I believe business is like this. We achieve, and it opens new opportunities. We strive to keep that cycle going; that is, to stay in pursuit of continuous improvement. This will create more margin. And the margin is the best sustainability program any of us could hope for. I'm confident working together we can increase your margins and rescue your time! Let’s get to work.

Results matter. Results push margin gains and save time. Plus, I'm putting my cash to work in business, and I am constantly working to requalify myself; I'm not the typical retired corporate guy that has a few tricks to share. I'm in the game. I'm an active entrepreneur and business owner facing many of the same challenges you are. I'm committed to helping people help themselves so after my engagement with them sustained results continue.

I live the Intensity Multiplier Principles, and they work in both my professional life and my personal life. Let me show you how. I am a practicing business professional and entrepreneur focused on the continual re-qualification of skills through hands-on application of the knowledge, skills, and disciplines I use. I am an athlete - who competes in amateur master’s mountain biking events. I realize what endurance athletes face when trying to balance life, career, and pursuit of personal best. It’s not that I compete, we all do, even if we are not entering a race or competition. Life makes us compete. Your event might be getting to the gym or being consistent on that daily 2-mile walk or making sure you don't miss the kid’s events each week. Or making sure you make time for your partner. The issue becomes making sure that happens. It’s hard. I get it. I'm chasing that challenge, too. I'm chasing a personal best, like you. I have a unique perspective on what it takes to make precisely what you need happen, become your reality.

And the last thing I'll mention is I'm an owner. It’s my cash. And that drives attention to detail and a commitment to results like nothing else. Whether you’re the owner or not, you gain this perspective working with me, precisely creating the right knowledge, skills, and disciplines you need to maintain results into the future. My passion is for business and continual skill development in all areas of my life. Each client situation is yet another opportunity for me to learn and grow as TheFitProfessional1. We will learn from each other.
